Criterion text
The supplier must ensure that the manufacturer of the product (trademark owner) has implemented routines, models or assessment systems or similar to substitute substances hazardous to the health or environment . The supplier must also have its own documented procedures for how this should be done vis-à-vis the client.
The procedures etc. shall be documented and put into action throughout the term of the contract. They must at least include the five steps in the European Chemicals Agency's (ECHA's) model for substitution to safer chemicals1:

Inform your supply chain
Within [three weeks/other time determined by the contracting organisation] of receiving a request from the contracting organisation, the supplier shall present its procedures etc. and show how these are implemented with regards to the contracted products.

Verification
By submitting its tender, the supplier accepts that this special contract term shall be fulfilled during the contractual period.
Proposed follow-up
Follow up by requesting a written description of the procedures for chemical substitution. The supplier shall provide the corresponding information from any subcontractors. Ensure that the procedures follow at least the five steps in the ECHA's model for substitution to safer chemicals.
At follow-up meetings, the supplier can explain how its chemical substitution procedures are applied to one or more selected pieces of equipment.

- desktop and all-in-one computers
- monitors
- smartphones and tablets.
